Position Purpose: |

Under the general supervision of department leadership, this position produces optimal diagnostic images, fluoroscopy procedures and mammograms (screening, diagnostic, and biopsies) while providing excellent patient care. The incumbent is accountable for individualized patient care while in the Radiology Department. The incumbent is also responsible for managing staff and work flow on a day to day basis. |

Nature and Scope: |
|
|
The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families. The incumbent must also demonstrate the ability to work with the physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychosocial needs specific to the population being served and meet standards of quality as measured by the Unit/Department age specific competency standards.
The incumbent must competently operate imaging equipment and related machinery, verify and execute physicians' orders for diagnostic and therapeutic exams while ensuring the proper preparation for such exams and the safety and well-being of patients during procedures. The major challenges to this position include being able to understand and apply the technical skills required to operate mammographic equipment. This position must be proficient in the use of the MAMMOGRAPHY UNIT. Position performs breast biopsies, wire loc, and other image-guided procedures.
Other duties include, but are not limited to, billing, supplies stocking, file maintenance, medical charting, informed consent documentation, quality improvement studies, patient history/symptoms acquisition. Determines the best method of obtaining optimal examinations while ensuring patient safety; regulates patient flow, consults with radiologists to determine contrast media and makes necessary corrections to improve image quality. May be required to assist other modalities within the department or Renown Health System.
The incumbent is required to perform diagnostic radiographic, mammograms and fluoroscopic radiographic procedures of the human body utilizing radiographic principles according to the guidelines recommended by Merrill's Anatomy and Positioning reference manual and Renown Regional Medical Center Diagnostic Radiographic Department Policy and Procedure manual. This position has the authority to make technical decisions that will provide the best possible mammographic image quality. The Lead Radiologic Technologist must demonstrate ability to lead staff in the day to day work flow of the department.

Minimum Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred |

Education: |
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Preference will be given to applicants with an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or completion of AMA approved hospital-based program.. Complete required didactic mammography courses

Experience: |
Preference will be given to applicants with experience. |
|
License(s): |
State of Nevada Certification in Mammography is required upon hire. |

Certification(s): |
Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), R.T. in both (R-Radiography) and (M-Mammography) certifications within 90 days of employment. Must obtain AHA BLS certification within sixty (60) days of employment. |
