POSITION SUMMARY: Co-ordinates the day-to-day operations of the Transport Department. Transport patients and patient associated items as requested throughout hospital stay to ensure customer service and needs are met. This position is an integral part of the patient care team which provides prompt, courteous, customer orientated services to our patients, visitors, and co-workers. Position: Evening Lead Transporter Department: Patient Transport Schedule: Full Time 3pm - 11:30pm ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Directs daily work of other patient transporters and reports inadequate performance to Supervisor. Trains new and existing employees. Follows up on complaints and reports them to the Supervisor. Evaluates work requirements and assignments; ensures efficient use of employees and distribution of workload. Covers general breaks and lunch breaks taken. Drafts and completes an end of shift report. Follows Transport uniform policy and reports discrepancies to Supervisor. Patient Transport with use of Tele-tracking software system; safely and courteously transport patients to various areas as requested, using proper equipment, verifying patient name, date of birth, room number and destination and documenting such. Notifies responsible party upon arrival and reports any medical problem keeping all patient information confidential, ensuring safety, courteous and confidential transport of each patient to the correct destination as requested. Practices good hand hygiene. Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age-groups. Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination; brings the proper requested equipment. Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch. Ensures patient comfort by being attentive; offers blankets, checks modesty, and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. Never transports patients in severe pain. Immediately alerts nursing staff to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction. Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs. Transport is responsible for the maintenance and disinfecting of departmental equipment: stretchers, wheelchairs (and beds when transported by bed) and equipment rooms. Complies with regulator agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO. Adheres to facility confidentiality and patients’ rights policy as outlined in the facility's HIPPA policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the department. All associates shall follow the applicable safety steps required to perform their duties to ensure safety for themselves and their patients, and be in compliance with Medical Center, state and federal safety standards. Examples of such steps may include: Performing proper safety procedures and precautions; Reporting safety concerns and incidents; Using correct lifting techniques (minimal lift & maxi slides). JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years experience in a hospital setting in a management or supervisory capacity. Experience in troubleshooting and handling customer complaints. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Basic computer knowledge preferred. Demonstrate ability to accept and adapt to change. Must be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Attends and participates in training and educational classes related to Hospital Policies and skills knowledge. Is familiar with blood borne pathogens and personal protective equipment requirements. Knowledgeable and compliance with infectious disease Policy and Procedure. Exercises good hand washing techniques and personal hygiene. Adheres to hospital's attendance guidelines. Ability to work collaboratively and as a team player, yet can work independently without close supervision. Good communications, presentation and interpersonal skills Familiarity with operations management Compensation Range: $18.78- $27.90 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
