Assistant Project Manager- Electrical Construction

Overview

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support large-scale electrical construction projects from planning and permitting through installation, testing, and closeout. You will help coordinate project activities, schedules, budgets, drawings, procurement, field execution, and documentation so work is completed safely, accurately, on time, and within budget.

This is not a desk-only position. You will divide your time between the office and active jobsites, working directly with project managers, field supervisors, electricians, clients, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and permitting authorities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands electrical installation, works confidently in AutoCAD, and wants to grow into an Electrical Project Manager.

What You’ll Do

· Assist with project planning and maintain electrical construction schedules.

· Review electrical plans, one-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, specifications, shop drawings, and client requirements for accuracy, coordination, and constructability.

· Create, edit, and maintain AutoCAD drawings, including power layouts, equipment locations, conduit routing, panel schedules, field redlines, and as-built drawings.

· Visit jobsites regularly to verify field conditions, take measurements, monitor progress, compare installed work with approved drawings, and document discrepancies.

· Coordinate with project managers, electricians, field supervisors, clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve field questions and maintain workflow.

· Identify design conflicts, missing information, constructability concerns, procurement risks, and schedule impacts early; communicate them clearly and follow through to resolution.

· Assist with material takeoffs, estimating, bid and contract review, purchasing, equipment deliveries, budget tracking, change orders, and cost documentation.

· Prepare and maintain RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, daily reports, incident logs, schedules, procurement logs, punch lists, and closeout packages.

· Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and safe, code-compliant installation in accordance with project requirements, NEC, NFPA 70, and OSHA standards.

What We’re Looking For

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on electrical construction experience.

· Approximately 2–5 years of experience in electrical construction, project engineering, field engineering, project coordination, or a related role.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to independently open, read, create, edit, and update electrical construction drawings.

· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, panel schedules, specifications, and construction documents.

· Practical understanding of electrical installation methods, such as conduit routing, cable and wire installation, panelboards, transformers, equipment connections, grounding, supports, and labeling.

· Proactive work style: able to anticipate needs, raise issues early, take ownership of assigned tasks, and follow through without constant reminders.

· Strong attention to detail, accuracy, documentation, and quality.

· Clear communication and the ability to work respectfully with field crews, clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.

· Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

· Ability to help track project schedules, budgets, contracts, procurement activities, and open action items.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to local project sites throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Preferred Qualifications

· Familiarity with power distribution, low-voltage systems, controls, PLC/I/O wiring, or instrumentation.

· Experience with Bluebeam; familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, or AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.

· Experience with material takeoffs, estimating, procurement, project cost tracking.

· Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, OSHA requirements, and applicable local codes.

Pay: $33.00 - $43.00 per hour
