DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS The NIH StrokeNet University of Miami-Florida Regional Coordinating Center is providing a unique opportunity to enhance the education and career development of future stroke clinical researchers to participate in an individualized educational careerenhancement program that will develop additional research skills, and assists in progressing to more senior status. The NIH StrokeNet post-doctoral trainee must have an interest in clinical research, and commit to participating fully in the program. As outlined in the U24 PAR, the program is designed to “provide research experiences and career enhancement opportunities to early-stage investigators.” During the training year, the trainees must: 1) attend (or participate asynchronously in) all StrokeNet Grand Rounds, Professional Development Webinars, and Basic Science Journal Clubs 2) participate in a StrokeNet Learning Community 3) work with mentors in the development and submission of a research project to the StrokeNet Education Core. 4) present their research in progress at a StrokeNet meeting or webinar 5) spend no less than 50% of their time on research and research training, 6) complete all program-related surveys during and after the program 7) enlist in a tailored educational curriculum that includes the fundamentals of clinical and translational stroke research, offers a 1-year Public Health certificate, with emphasis on research methods, clinical trial design, responsible conduct of research and authorship, and manuscript and grant writing skills. 8) clinical trial enrollment may be a component of the trainee’s activities. The post-doctoral trainee will be trained in all the ongoing StrokeNet study protocols and will participate in the screening, consenting, enrollment, and follow-up of study participants. 9) accomplish the tasks assigned by the FL RCC Career Enhancement Program. 10) apply simultaneously for other Institutional (CTSI KL2, T32 programs, MSCTI) and K and K-like awards. 11) interactively work with mentors to conduct data analysis and submit publications to scientific journals This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
