Role Overview
As a Thermal FEA Simulation Engineer, you will ensure that actuators and embedded systems meet performance and safety requirements under thermal constraints. You will develop high-fidelity thermal models, perform simulations, and validate designs through testing. Your work will be instrumental in optimizing heat management and enabling reliable, high-performance operation of NEO, our humanoid robot.
Responsibilities
Build high-fidelity 3D thermal models of actuators, including electric motors, power electronics, and mechanical housings
Simulate and analyze thermal behavior to identify areas for risk mitigation and performance optimization
Develop and implement design improvements to manage heat across compact and integrated assemblies
Run thermal validation tests at subsystem and full product levels, correlating simulation results with experimental data
Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and systems teams to implement and verify thermal solutions in hardware
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
3 years of experience with FEA thermal analysis and modeling of electro-mechanical systems
Proficiency with thermal simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar)
Strong understanding of heat transfer mechanisms including conduction, convection, and radiation
Experience validating simulations with experimental test data
Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional engineering teams
