Job Title: Filling Technician (Non-laboratory) – Compounding Pharmacy
Department: Pharmacy Operations
Reports To: Fulfillment Lead / Fulfillment Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly
Position Summary:
The Filling Technician is responsible for accurately and efficiently filling, labeling, and packaging compounded medications according to established formulations, prescriptions, and regulatory standards. The technician ensures product quality, maintains aseptic technique (if applicable), and supports overall production workflow within the compounding pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately fill compounded preparations into final dosage forms and prescription orders.
- Perform visual inspection of compounded products for particulate matter, contamination, or labeling errors.
- Operate and maintain filling and packaging equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and apply accurate labels and auxiliary labels to finished products.
- Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines for handling hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other technicians to ensure timely order fulfillment and workflow efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college or pharmacy technician training preferred.
- Active Pharmacy Technician License or Certification (as required by state regulations).
- 1–2 years of experience as a pharmacy filling technician
- Knowledge of USP compounding standards and GMP documentation practices is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Work Environment:
- Professional compounding pharmacy setting, outside of the compouding laboratory.
- Team-oriented, detail-focused environment emphasizing safety and compliance
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
