Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Service Apprentice with 2-3 years of hands-on experience to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical systems while supporting field service operations. As a Service Apprentice, you will assist in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of equipment and systems across commercial and residential properties. Your proactive approach and technical knowledge will contribute to delivering exceptional service and ensuring optimal system performance.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design documents to accurately diagnose issues.
- Support field service activities including equipment repair, appliance servicing, boiler maintenance, and property upkeep.
- Conduct routine inspections of air conditioning units, ammonia refrigeration systems, and other mechanical equipment to identify potential problems early.
- Use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing and ensure proper calibration of HVAC/R equipment.
- Perform welding or basic fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or system modifications.
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, parts used, and system conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in construction-related service work or as a service technician within HVAC or refrigeration fields.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with practical experience in HVAC/R systems, plumbing, appliance repair, and property maintenance.
- Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, and technical manuals.
- Hands-on experience with equipment repair including boilers, air conditioning units, ammonia refrigeration systems, and other mechanical components.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and perform basic welding or fabrication tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating a
driver vehicle is preferred. - Knowledge of safety procedures related to field service work and property maintenance environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team in diverse settings.
