What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Group Facilitator – Neurodivergent Teens position at 1ness Project Foundation Limited?
Title: Youth Group Facilitator – Neurodivergent Teens (Part-Time, Evenings)
Pay: $20–$26/hour, commensurate with experience
Schedule: Weekday Evenings, 2 to 4 days per week depending upon availability
Location: In person, Downtown Buffalo, NY
The 1ness Project Foundation is growing DayOnes, a relationship-literacy program for neurodivergent youth in grades 6–12. We serve primarily young people, both those with and without a diagnosis who want to make friends, from Buffalo’s East Side and other underserved communities. DayOnes doesn’t teach kids to mask or perform. We help them build real connection, self-worth, and the skills to navigate friendship and relationships as themselves.
As we expand, we’re adding facilitators to lead small cohorts of 10–15 youth alongside a partnering adult.
How you’ll be trained
You’ll learn by shadowing live DayOnes sessions taught by our current team, then step into co-leading and leading. No prior curriculum knowledge needed.
What you’ll do
- Lead the 25-session curriculum across three phases: Roots (identity and needs), Bridges (trust, conflict, boundaries), and Horizons (attraction, consent, partnership)
- Run each session’s set structure, from arrival through teaching, role-play, and closing reflection
- Keep the room safe and low-pressure, including open access to a quiet sensory corner
- Help youth regulate during transitions between program spaces
- Work hand-in-hand with your Co-Facilitator to track how each young person is doing
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with neurodivergent youth (strongly preferred)
- Comfort leading and holding a group of middle and high schoolers
- An affirming, non-clinical view of autism, ADHD, and neurodivergence
- Cultural competence with Buffalo’s East Side and experience with youth of color
- Reliability. These kids need the same face every session.
- Lived experience with neurodivergence, personal or family, is welcome and valued
A teaching certification is not required. Current or former certification is welcome but won’t affect your eligibility.
