Seeking Behavioral Health Clinician for the Community Assessment Program


The Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) is a nonprofit organization contributing to the safety of youth, families, and the communities of Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties through early intervention, comprehensive assessment and improved access to appropriate services. The JAC’s Community Assessment Program (CAP) provides sustainable community and family connections as an intervention for school-aged youth exhibiting concerning behavior. CAP Behavioral Health Clinicians work with multiple partners to identify root causes of behavior in youth and serve, in collaboration with professionals, as a guide to connect families to effective community-based services.


As a Behavioral Health Clinician, you will complete bio psycho social assessments to identify concerning behaviors and their underlying factors. In conjunction with the assessment, there are multiple mental health, substance use, and trauma screenings to inform your recommendation of supportive services or resources to address identified concerns. You will prepare a summary of youth and parent concerns, screening and assessment results, and recommendations for the referring professional. Behavioral Health Clinicians assist in coordination of care for youth involved in the juvenile justice and/or human service systems, as well as community/prevention interventions and school systems.


In addition to conducting early intervention assessments, you will provide professionals with information regarding behavioral health issues and resources available in their community. Clinicians are available for consult and navigation for families and professionals. We work in collaboration with professionals to develop strategies and meet the needs of students and families in their environment. As a clinician, you will represent the JAC at resource fairs, parent coffees, parent/teacher conferences, community meetings, family meetings, and other identified community events.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; including above average oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in the mental health and substance use treatment systems preferred
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care principles/practices
  • Knowledge on the developmental phases of child and youth preferred
  • Ability to walk alongside families, problem solve collaboratively, and build on strengths

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree required. Licensure preferred. Must be able to obtain licensure within 3 years of hire and register with required agencies to bill insurance; including Medicaid
  • Must pass a Background check. Required background check includes a review with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Central Registry of Child Protection (Trails)
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to be able to commute from location to location throughout the work day
  • Bilingual candidates must be fluent in both Spanish and English and have demonstrated ability to translate written documents from English to Spanish and Spanish to English

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The salary for this position is $56,500/yearly for those with a provisional license (CSW, LPCC) and $62,500/ yearly for full licensure status (LCSW or LPC). This is a full time, exempt position that will include day and evening hours to accommodate families. Requires flexibility to attend monthly meetings, resource fairs, community events, and training as needed.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed in the community, schools, and satellite locations, in addition to the standard office environment. Some work from home/remote work may be approved upon supervisor approval and if fully meeting performance expectations. Work hours may occasionally be required on weekends, evenings or on holidays.
