Job Overview
Join our team as a Barback and Food Runner for our local farm taproom Friday - Sunday. This role combines the fast-paced environment of food and beverage service with essential support tasks that keep our Taproom running smoothly. You’ll assist bartenders by maintaining a clean and stocked bar area, while also delivering food promptly and efficiently to guests. Opening and closing duties are included.
Responsibilities
- Support bartenders by restocking supplies, cleaning glassware, and maintaining a tidy bar area in accordance with health standards
- Safely handle and transport food items from the kitchen to dining areas using proper manual handling techniques
- Clear tables efficiently by bussing dishes, glasses, and utensils while ensuring guest comfort and cleanliness standards are met
- Deliver food orders quickly and accurately from the kitchen to guests’ tables, ensuring proper presentation and temperature
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, including organizing supplies and supporting kitchen staff during busy periods
- Maintain cleanliness in all service areas through regular cleaning, sanitizing surfaces, and proper waste disposal, opening and closing tasklist
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or hospitality environments preferred but not required; willingness to learn is key
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and use proper lifting practices when handling supplies or equipment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on in-person customer service excellence
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Square is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods during shifts
