The Maintenance & Engineering Manager leads engineering and maintenance teams, driving professional development, safety performance, and operational efficiency across the plant. This role oversees engineering projects from concept through execution, manages CAPEX and departmental budgets, and ensures accurate documentation including CAD drawings, spare parts lists, and project records. The manager is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting equipment installation, troubleshooting, and plant operations. This position requires strong leadership, technical communication skills, and the ability to guide cross-functional teams through project specifications, timelines, and deliverables.
Responsibilities for Maintenance and Engineering Manager:
• Professional development of self and team. Promoting team building and efficiency.
• Timeliness and completeness of engineering projects.
• Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be used from findings, costs of project, and equipment.
• Maintains and oversees department(s) expenses, project expenses, CAPEX to approved budget.
• Assists in development and administration of annual capital budget.
• Maximize equipment uptime performance.
• Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data, and analysis. Plans documentation system.
• Ensure proper creation all new documentation, CAD drawings and spare parts list for associated projects. Included maintaining or updating existing equipment documentation.
• Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring state of projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences to inform management of status of each project.
• Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement for existing ones.
• Suggest and implement continuous improvement efforts and innovation related toward safety, quality, efficiency, or cost savings.
• Safety performance of the engineering department following all Wieland Small Tube Products safety procedures
• Provide support and participation of implementation of projects and start-up/ troubleshooting of any equipment.
• Develops and maintains accurate records for project budgets, total costs, ROI, and productivity efficiency.
• Assist and support maintenance department and plant operations as requested or assigned.
• Assists others on any projects as assigned.
Requirements for Maintenance and Engineering Manager:
• Bachelor’s degree within engineering field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of leadership or management experience.
• CAD Package Certificate (Beneficial but, not required) or equivalent CAD experience.
• Demonstrates characteristics of strong team building and leadership skills.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking/ problem-solving skills.
• Proficient computer literacy with Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, Outlook, etc.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences. Having strong communication, presentation skills. Ability to lead a project meeting with deliverables of project, timelines, and estimates through PowerPoint.
• Effective implementation of project specifications, requisitions, and all accompanying documentation.
• Efficient thorough record keeping and organizational skills.
• Ensures that all present equipment and new installations are safe to operate and meet all regulatory requirements.
• Timely and cost effective completion of assignments with established timelines.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10% of the time.
