Assistant Manager

We are looking for a motivated, hands-on Assistant Manager who works directly alongside the General Manager to oversee restaurant operations, develop a strong team, deliver outstanding customer service, and drive results. Our Assistant Managers are an extension of the General Manager, helping lead from the front and set the standard for the team every day.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

• Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations while maintaining Jersey Mike’s standards for quality, service, cleanliness, and food safety

• Support the General Manager with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, developing, and retaining a strong team

• Coach and develop team members and future leaders

• Assist with building and executing effective weekly schedules based on projected sales, business volume, availability, and labor goals

• Actively manage labor throughout each shift and make appropriate staffing decisions based on business needs

• Assist the General Manager in monitoring and achieving store KPI and profitability goals, including sales, labor, food cost, paper cost, waste, customer satisfaction, and overall profitability

• Assist with weekly and monthly inventory and identify opportunities to control food cost and waste

• Maintain proper cash management and financial controls

• Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory rotation, FIFO, and maintaining proper product availability

• Maintain exceptional food safety and sanitation standards at all times

• Ensure the restaurant is consistently clean, organized, stocked, and guest-ready

• Deliver outstanding customer service and professionally resolve guest concerns

• Maintain Jersey Mike’s product standards, including proper portioning, sub weights, preparation, presentation, and quality

• Lead shifts with urgency, organization, communication, and proper position deployment

• Delegate effectively and hold team members accountable to expectations

• Complete assigned administrative responsibilities accurately and on time

• Follow and enforce company policies, procedures, attendance expectations, and operational standards

• Communicate regularly with the General Manager regarding staffing, operations, maintenance, employee performance, and store needs

• Step into a leadership role and oversee store operations in the General Manager’s absence

• Create a positive, respectful, professional workplace where employees are supported while also being held accountable

• Be willing to work alongside the team in every position and lead by example

• Take ownership of the shift and restaurant — identifying problems, creating solutions, communicating concerns, and following through without needing constant direction
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent

• Experience: 2 years of QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) experience preferred

• Must be 18 years of age or older

• ServSafe Manager Certification required

• Must have reliable transportation

• This is a FULL-TIME management position

• Must have open availability with no exceptions, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business

• Must be available to work during peak business periods and based on the operational needs of the store

• Previous leadership or restaurant management experience preferred

• Ability to lead, coach, delegate, and hold team members accountable

• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active restaurant environment

• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to consistently meet scheduling requirements
  
  
• Must be able to pass a basic background check 

Open availability and full-time availability are requirements of the Assistant Manager position.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Assistant Manager is dependable, organized, energetic, accountable, and comfortable making decisions. This position requires someone who can support the General Manager while also confidently taking ownership of the restaurant and team when needed.

Restaurant management experience is preferred, but above all, we are looking for a strong leader with a great attitude, sense of urgency, willingness to learn, and the ability to develop a successful team.

This is not a desk-management position. Our Assistant Managers are hands-on leaders who work alongside their teams, understand the business, support their General Manager, and take pride in the success of their store.
