What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator II position at 15th Judicial Circuit Court (FL)?
This is advanced professional and technical work focused on the support of desktop hardware and software systems specifically within a Windows environment. The individual in this role is responsible for supporting departmental computerization efforts, including analyzing system needs, implementing solutions, administering complex multi-user desktop environments, developing business applications, providing training and support to end-users, and troubleshooting/resolving technical issues as they arise. Professional experience with sound systems, mixers, amplifiers, IP cameras and networking are necessary for this position.
- Designs, implements, and maintains complex departmental desktop and LAN/server systems, with emphasis on Windows 11 deployment and support
- Serves as project manager for the development and implementation of desktop automation systems and upgrades
- Analyzes user needs, research available options, prepares cost-benefit analyses, and makes recommendations on the most appropriate desktop solutions
- Implements and administers purchased desktop and productivity software applications (e.g., Microsoft 365, Teams, OneDrive)
- Performs data retrieval/manipulation to support business functions
- Monitors desktop systems to ensure appropriate backups, security, and data integrity
- Monitors system utilization to ensure effective performance
- Coordinates with vendors and consultants to achieve desired desktop support outcomes
- Coordinates activities through the Chief Information Officer to ensure compliance with countywide IT standards and policies
- Performs related work as required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in the support of LAN/server systems, desktop systems, hardware, software, or business applications (depending on area of assignment).
Relevant experience and/or education may substitute for the recommended minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of various types of desktop computer hardware, peripherals, and Windows 11 operating system features
- Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting methods and tools, including Windows 11 diagnostic utilities and remote support platforms
- Considerable knowledge of project management methodologies applicable to desktop support and deployment
- Considerable knowledge of LAN/server operating systems and integration with Windows 11 clients
- Considerable knowledge of current system development methods and tools, including scripting and automation for desktop environments
- Considerable knowledge of networking concepts including connectivity, protocols, security, recovery, and diagnostic methods relevant to desktop systems
- Knowledge of data processing principles, standards, and procedures
- Knowledge of data design methods applicable to desktop applications and reporting tools
- Ability to instruct others in the use of desktop software and equipment
- Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
