Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Technician to support our stamping operations in Lexington, KY.
This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing stamping dies to ensure efficient, high-quality production. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in troubleshooting tooling issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot progressive and single-hit stamping dies used in production
- Perform die disassembly, inspection, cleaning, sharpening, and reassembly
- Diagnose tooling issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Support press setup and die tryouts to ensure proper function and part quality
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
- Utilize precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve tooling performance and reliability
- Execute preventative maintenance programs on tooling and related components
- Document maintenance, repairs, and tooling modifications
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, vibration, and moving machinery
- Requires standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and use of hand tools
- Overtime and flexible scheduling may be required to support production demands
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tool and die within a metal stamping environment
- Strong understanding of stamping processes and die construction
- Experience with manual machining equipment (surface grinders, mills, lathes)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Tool and Die certification
- Experience with CNC machining, wire EDM, or toolroom programming
- Familiarity with press operations and automated stamping systems
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
