This includes peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), midlines, central lines, and ultrasound-guided IVs. The team ensures patients receive reliable vascular access to support therapies such as IV medications, fluids, and nutrition. Our team focuses on the following: • Advanced practice in ultrasound-guided vascular access, ensuring precision and safety in even the most complex cases • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, critical care, oncology, surgical, and medical units, to deliver timely access for patients with challenging needs. • Troubleshooting line complications and serving as subject matter experts for vascular access device management and care. Follows CDC guidelines for sterile technique and isolation, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Manages and intervenes appropriately for the patient with current venous access issues, including prioritization, appropriate venous access choice for age, therapy, and any current complication’s impact on the needs for IV therapy. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports departmental quality standards and initiatives. Evaluates the need for and provide patient teaching in all aspects of the venous access specialty. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • PICC Validation [Preferred] • Port Validation [Preferred] • Peripheral Intravenous Access Validation [Preferred] • EKG (based on patient population; see document EKG and Advanced Life Support Requirements) [Preferred] • CRNI [Preferred] Education: • Associate's of Nursing [Required] • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred] Additional Information: • Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
