Role: Optometrist
Organization: Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Pollock, Health Services Department
Pay: $125-150 per hour, based on experience
Location: On site at FCC Pollock, 1000 Airbase Road, Pollock, LA (near Alexandria)
Time Commitment: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, on site, except for Federal holidays. 40 hrs/week with flexibility to accommodate the Optometrist’s schedule as needed.
Start Date: Fall 2026 (timing is flexible based on candidate availability)
Other Details: This role provides optometry care for adults in a federal correctional clinic.

Job Description:
Evaluate adults referred by medical staff, including eye exams as requested
Diagnose eye conditions and document physical findings in clear written reports
Perform tonometry exams and remove foreign objects from the eye when needed
Recommend treatment and follow-up care, and prescribe corrective lenses and frames
Fit eyeglasses and adjust frames; adjust exam equipment as needed
Complete about 15 to 20 scheduled exams per day
Document each exam in the facility electronic medical record
