Plant shop Retail Associate & Barista

108 Vine is a vintage vibes gift shop with a craft espresso bar in Gainesville, Florida. Our sister store Plantstay is a houseplant shop located right next door. Our shops are filled with curated plants, local and vintage curiosities and giftable goods. We serve crafted coffee drinks with house made syrups and locally sourced pastries.

We are looking for an energetic and outgoing team member who is service centered to join our team as a barista/plant store sales associate and work across both stores.

The ideal candidate has 2 years of experience with houseplants and a love of coffee. If they also love crystals and local goods that is a huge plus! They are able to complete tasks in a consistent and accurate way and are able to prioritize their day to be prepared for the busy moments and take advantage of the quiet spells.

The position requires changing hats often, from serving drinks to potting plants and making gift recommendations to inventory and inputting new products. We are new to the scene and constantly growing and evolving to meet our customers needs. This is a small, local business with a hands-on approach to customer service. Building relationships with our customers is what we love the most!

This position is primarily for our plant shop, but cross training for both stores is our mission for all team members!

We are open 7 days a week from 8am - 6pm Mon-Sat and 9-5 Sunday. A full day, 10 hour shifts will at times be required. We publish our schedule a month a time so that our team can plan their lives and we try to be flexible with scheduling as possible. Weekend availability is 100% required for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

• General plant care, watering, pest prevention
• Assisting customers with questions, repotting and plant knowledge
• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and other beverages in a meticulous and timely manner
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment, counters, and retail sales area
• Educate customers on our products and services and provide excellent customer service
• Assist with inventory management, stocking and pricing of retail items
• Generate behind the scenes photos and videos for use in social media content

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• At least 1 year of experience in a customer service role
• Strong knowledge of general plant care
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Availability to work flexible hours

Compensation: $13-14/hour. Barista shifts are also tip eligible.

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
