Job Description As Gilead continues to transform and deliver life-changing therapies to patients, we’re looking for a Head of Security and Resiliency to drive our innovative culture while protecting the firm’s employees, assets and organization. This position will be responsible for rethinking strategies for best-in-class global operations, establish a new security operations center, and build new capabilities using a risk-based approach. They will serve as a key business leader advising Gilead’s executive team as well as various business and functional stakeholders. The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader with deep domain expertise and finely-honed influencing skills. They will be invigorated by the challenge of rethinking the security organization and practices to drive Gilead’s mission, innovating on trends and best-in-class practices to build unique solutions. As a thought leader, the candidate will be able to synthesize technical and complex issues into simple terms for business leaders, with crisp options and a definite point of view, while also being able to listen and respond to business concerns. They will also have the dynamic range to articulate a compelling vision, the roadmap to achieve it and mobilize the organization to bring the vision to life. Key responsibilities include: Develop strategies and organizational practices to identify, assess, prevent, protect and mitigate risks, threats and vulnerabilities to safeguard people, assets, product and property of Gilead Sciences Drive the implementation of a best-in-class security roadmap and evaluate effectiveness through a post-implementation evaluation plan Drive processes and standards by serving as the central resource, responsible for promoting consistency in the company’s physical security policies, procedures and practices for protection, confidence, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and other compliance requirements Contribute knowledge and experience to specialized projects and issues facing Gilead. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations, technology, and policies to anticipate their impact and proactively prepare to address them Build and lead a high performing team that coordinates safety and security efforts across all corporate disciplines while staying true to Gilead’s open and collaborative culture Measure and manage risk and establish KPIs for both proactive and reactive measures Provide performance oversight for all security service providers, including internal/external contractor security resources and electronic security systems Cultivate effective partnerships with stakeholders in various functions and departments throughout Gilead to meet business goals while incorporating appropriate safety and security considerations Key Skills and Experiences Best-in-class understanding of security trends and practices, with a track record of successfully delivering innovative, complex and global practices, tools and systems tailored to meet business needs Significant management experience in security, including corporate and government and/or military Exceptional leadership, relationship and influencing skills. Able to articulate a clear, compelling vision, translate into an actionable roadmap and mobilize teams to execute Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and transformation, as well as shifting mindsets to build a strong security culture Experience working across a complex, large, multi-functional organization with diverse business needs and a global footprint Strong track record of thought leadership and partnering with business stakeholders to advise on key aspects of security and resilience across physical, personnel and supply chain domains Demonstrated strong decision-making in both crisis and non-crisis situations Ability to analyze processes, articulate problems and root causes and recommend risk-based solutions Experience leading and developing security teams of direct reports and successful management of outsourced vendor relationships Decisive, assertive and diplomatic; able to form opinions based on facts and offer options, push back on more senior executive when warranted, as well as adjust approaches based on business need when appropriate Detail-oriented with a hands-on style, balancing confidence with humility, and able to distill inherently technical and complex issues into simple and straightforward terms For jobs in the United States: As an equal opportunity employer, Gilead Sciences Inc. is committed to a diverse workforce.
