Summary Performs electrocardiogram (EKG) for outpatients and performs processing for inpatients and outpatients. Assigns to Physician for reading. Assists with troubleshooting (quality, performance, EKG machine, etc.). Job Duties Performs high quality patient care activities, including inpatient/outpatient EKG processing, and assigns to Physicians for reading daily. Performs patient prep and applies electrodes for outpatient EKG daily. Performs high quality patient care activities including patient prep, explanation, application, and documentation of Holter monitor recorders and Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors daily. Provides technical analysis of ECG data during all testing. Performs follow through/documentation as part of patient's record on a daily basis. Provides ECG support to other clinical areas to assist with quality, maintenance, and machine troubleshooting; procedure; and protocol utilization during downtimes, etc. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia. Ability to work with PCs and software programs (HIM system, EKG information management system, etc.). General clerical skills including use of fax, copier, memo taking, conference phone system, etc. Physical ability to assist patients with mobility issues and transport equipment. Preferred Qualifications Technical School Diploma Basic arrhythmia course 1 year 12-lead ECG performance, knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia CET - Certified EKG Technician - State of Pennsylvania Physical Demands Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
