Job Description The Security Investigator at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors. Responsible for conducting thorough investigations into incidents, potential threats, workplace violence, and security breaches throughout the organization. Works closely with the security team, law enforcement, and other relevant stakeholders to gather and analyze evidence, prepare reports, and recommend preventative measures. The Investigator will continue to perform security officer role by conducting regular patrols, monitor surveillance systems, and respond to incidents and emergencies when not conducting or leading investigations. Experience 4 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military 1 year of investigation experience Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred 3 years of healthcare experience preferred Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) certification through Advancing Security Worldwide (ASIS) Education High school diploma or equivalent MASADA Defensive tactical training within 9 months of employment Certification Summary Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Supervisor certifications within 1 year of employment Heartsaver or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 3 months of employment Marcus Crisis Prevention Program (MCPP) Tier 5, or equivalent, within 6 months of employment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to function independently with limited supervision In depth analysis and problem-solving skills Empathic listening Alertness and observation Ability to write complete, accurate, and concise incident reports Sound judgment and confidentiality in handling of sensitive information Remain calm under stress Excellent written and oral communication skills Organizational skills Strong human relations and teamwork skills Personal motivation Knowledge of Microsoft Word and the use of a personal computer Strong investigative skills Flexible and responsive Discretion and professionalism Ability to drive and operate Children’s vehicles Job Responsibilities Responsible for operating and driving Children’s vehicles throughout the organization as needed and to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs. Investigation and Incident Response Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, including theft, assault, vandalism, and other security breaches. Respond promptly to security incidents, ensuring evidence is preserved and collected appropriately. Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects to gather detailed and accurate information. Collaborate with local law enforcement and other agencies as needed. Report Preparation and Documentation Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reports of investigations, including findings, evidence, and recommendations. Maintain comprehensive records of incidents and investigations, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta policies. Risk Assessment and Prevention Analyze incident trends and identify potential security risks. Recommend improvements to security policies, procedures, and systems based on investigation findings. Conduct regular security audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards. Training and Collaboration Provide training and guidance to security staff on investigation procedures and evidence handling. Collaborate with hospital departments to enhance security awareness and protocols. Participate in security team meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives. Compliance and Legal Adherence Ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with policies, state and federal laws, and regulatory agencies. Stay updated on legal requirements and best practices in security and investigation. Patrol Duties Patrol assigned locations on foot or in a vehicle. Check and report irregularities related to security & safety, policy compliance, parking concerns, and other relevant issues. Order, Maintenance, and Enforcement Preserve order and enforce organizational regulations and directives pertaining to personnel, visitors, patients, and premises. Incident Management Protect evidence or the scene of incidents during accidents, emergencies, or security investigations. Act as the first responder to incidents such as fire, medical emergencies, security threats, disaster, and other emergencies. Crisis Response Respond to and intervene in high stress situations such as assistance calls from officers/medical staff, patient elopements, physical assaults, behavioral health de-escalations, and abductions.
