This position demands a proactive thinker with proven expertise in the full grant lifecycle–from prospect research and compelling proposal development to meticulous reporting and compliance. The Grant Writer serves as a key storyteller, translating organizational impact, program data, and financial needs into persuasive narratives that successfully align with the objectives of major foundations, corporations, and other funding entities. We recruit, hire, employ, train, promote, and compensate individuals based on job-related qualifications and abilities.TO APPLYFor immediate consideration, please complete the application on the 10,000 Degrees Careers page.Requirements:RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and draft high-quality, compelling, data-informed grant proposals and reports tailored to specific funding requirements.In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Advancement, maintain relationships with funders in your portfolio, including meeting virtually and/or in-person as needed.Draft and deliver periodic reports to existing funders as needed/required to maintain funding relationships.In collaboration with various departments, proactively conduct prospective research to identify new institutional funding opportunities (foundations, corporations, educational institutions) that align with the organization’s mission and funding priorities.Coordinate with necessary staff and departments to gather the data and details needed to inform proposals and reports.Maintain a portfolio of existing funders, including detailed records of all grant applications, deadlines, submissions, and outcomes in Salesforce.Manage the stewardship of grants, including relationship development, compliance with funding guidelines, and pertinent internal/external reporting requirements.Maintain and regularly update key organizational information, narratives, and data for rapid proposal generation.Provide regular briefs and status reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement.This position requires some in-person presence and/or travel within the regions served.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience3 years of demonstrated successful grant writing experience, preferably in the nonprofit sectorExemplary collaboration, presentation, and oral/written communication skillsExcellent research and analytical skillsAbility to translate raw data into compelling, targeted narrativeExcellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to adapt and be flexible with shifting priorities (Ex: ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with overlapping/competing deadlines and priorities).Demonstrated growth mindset with the willingness to learn and be self-reflectiveFamiliarity with fundraising strategies, prospect research tools, and nonprofit operationsA strong understanding of program evaluation methodologies and the ability to articulate outcomes and metrics effectivelyProficiency with Google/Microsoft SuiteKnowledge of grant management software, including Salesforce (preferred)Experience with budget preparation and financial reporting (preferred)Experience engaging with nonprofit funders, foundation partners (preferred)
