Role Overview
Independent Contractors provide on‐site, phone, and video interpretation for medical, school, legal, and community settings. Translation and transcription opportunities available for qualified linguists.
This is not a remote‐only role.
Key Responsibilities
- Consecutive interpretation in community settings
- Simultaneous interpretation if experienced (higher pay)
- Document translation when qualified
- Maintain accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism
- Follow HIPAA and national codes of ethics
- Submit encounter forms within 24 hours
- Maintain punctuality and a quiet workspace for remote calls
Compensation
- $28–$42/hr depending on language & assignment
- 1‐hour minimum (Spanish) / 1.5‐hour minimum (other languages)
- Higher rates for legal & simultaneous interpreting
- Per‐minute pay for phone/video interpreting
- Additional opportunities: transcription, project management, voice‐over, multilingual video, translation
Requirements
- 18 with HS diploma/GED (AA preferred)
- Reliable transportation computer, camera, headset, smartphone, high‐speed internet
- 40–64‐hour interpreter training preferred
- Clean background & DMV record
- 92–100% bilingual fluency
- 1 year professional interpreting experience
- Language proficiency test result (preferred or required depending on language)
