Job Description
a. Design, code, test, and deploy custom software applications and web services based on business requirements.
b. Maintain, debug, and upgrade existing legacy applications to improve performance and user experience.
c. Integrate frontend user interfaces with backend databases and third-party APIs.
d. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather technical requirements and translate them into functional code.
e. Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable relational (and non-relational) databases.
f. Write, optimize, and tune complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions.
g. Develop and implement efficient Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) structures.
h. Assist in establishing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines to migrate data across different systems.
i. Supports analysis of complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for business process improvement.
j. Monitor database performance, index usage, and system health to proactively resolve bottlenecks.
k. Create and maintain data dictionaries, schema documentation, and data models.
l. Assists analyzing and generating ad-hoc reports and build dashboards for stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
1. Proactively respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
2. Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
3. Develop and maintain definitions of Oracle and DB2 data in the district''s data dictionary.
4. Ensure the integrity of data by creating relational data structures and utilizing keys and other available database tools and methods.
5. Create and maintain database systems to include PL/SQL triggers and stored procedures.
6. Code, prepare test data, test, debug, and maintain database programs and stored procedures.
7. Analyze, review, and revise database programs and stored procedures to increase operating efficiency.
8. Monitor and optimize database objects and stored procedures for execution time and efficiency.
9. Monitor database performance to achieve maximum utilization of system software and hardware.
10. Designs, modifies, and implements new or revised systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
11. Prepares charts, diagrams, tables, and flowcharts to assist in problem analysis and submits recommendations for solution.
12. Develop methods for integrating different products so that they work together seamlessly.
13. Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
14. Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards and quality assurance policies and procedures.
15. Analyze end user processes to develop new accurate and efficient technical solutions that comply with district policy as well as legislative requirements.
16. Develop and maintain applications in Oracle Apex environment to replace existing legacy applications as well as new development in order to meet district needs.
17. Create and/or maintain entity relationship diagram models, data modeling and normalization for database development.
18. Ensure logical data models are mapped effectively and efficiently.
19. Develop, implement and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to database.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Responsible to design, develop, and maintain robust web applications while simultaneously assisting in writing, optimizing, and tuning complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, views, and functions.
Masters'' degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
Two years full-time wage-earning experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities
