#1 In Home Care is seeking flexible, on-call PRN Direct Support Workers (DSWs) to provide compassionate in-home care and support for its clients. This posting is strictly PRN (pro re nata), meaning work is offered on an as-needed basis to cover shifts, vacations, absences, and short-notice needs. This is not a full-time or regular part-time role.
What PRN Means
- PRN definition: Work offered as needed; there are no guaranteed hours and no regular schedule.
- On-call expectation: You will be notified of available shifts and asked to accept or decline within the facility’s response window.
- Flexibility required: Ability to accept last-minute shifts when available increases chances of frequent assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-home assistance with activities of daily living including personal care, mobility support, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
- Adhere to clients individualized care plans and follow directions from supervisors or case managers.
- Support community participation and safe transportation as needed (if required).
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and report any changes in client condition.
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, and the care team.
- Follow safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and client confidentiality rules.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in caregiving or direct support strongly preferred.
- Ability to pass background checks.
- Reliable transportation and ability to arrive at clients' homes on time.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills patience, and respectful, person-centered approach.
- Attention to detail and observation skills are necessary to monitor clients' health and safety, enabling timely reporting of any concerns.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift or assist clients safely as required by the role.
- Basic first aid or CPR preferred if available; training will be provided.
- CPR and First Aid certification enhance the worker’s ability to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring client safety is highly preferred.
Schedule Availability
- PRN status: No guaranteed hours; shifts assigned based on need and your availability.
- We are seeking applicants for all shifts: mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Applicants should provide current general availability.
- Must be reachable by phone or text for on-call shift offers and respond within the time specified by the organization.
