GENERAL DUTIES:

The Assistant Director of Finance is a strategic financial business leader for the property that champions, develops and implements hotel-wide and market-wide strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of guests, team members and owners. This position provides financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the brand service strategy and initiatives while maximizing the return on investment. Creates and executes a strategic business plan that is aligned with the hotel’s business strategy with a primary focus on the execution of financial and accounting activities and the delivery of financial results.


· Manage and communicate cash flow related issues which includes the accurate and timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds

· Monitor hotel revenues and expenses and ensure the accurate recording in accordance with the hotel established guidelines

· Create annual budgets and monthly variance analysis

· Monitor the accurate production of the hotel daily operating report

· Direct and/or prepare all financial reports in accordance with requirements meeting various deadlines

· Investigate and critique variances to budget or to prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management

· Monitor the capital planning process by assisting management with the calculation of return on capital improvements, gathering support and monitoring the bid process, and ensuring proper upkeep of the property by evaluating scope of work and specifications

· Complies with Standard Accounting policies and procedures and internal controls for finance and accounting operations

· Ensure hotels’ compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes

· Provide assistance to management in enforcing compliance on all these items

· Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels’ financial objectives. Ensure that all balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliation’s are reconciled on a timely basis

· Perform the duties as directed by the Director of Finance.

· Embrace a continuous growth environment by actively providing feedback, coaching and supporting the hotel’s operational leader

· Hire, train, supervise and develop Finance team, including coaching and counseling

· Partner with Executive Committee on areas of collaboration to assure that property operations are on track and under control at all times

· Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans to improve guest satisfaction and strive to improve service performance.

· Identify opportunities to optimize performance and create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation, and driving necessary change.

· Establish and maintain open, collaborative internal and external relationships. Develop lasting relationships with guests to secure repeat business.

ABOUT YOU

· At least 4-5 years of related Finance experience

· Excellent finance, accounting and analytical skills, including experience with cash management, forecasting, revenue management strategies, budgeting, and project management

· Experience evaluating business trends and developing and successfully implementing new business programs and strategies that enhance financial performance

· Experience in owner relations is preferred

· Experience with complex operating and financial agreements; demonstrated success in evaluating risks and developing proactive strategies and plans to mitigate business issues

· Financial management skills e.g., ability to analyze P&L statements, develop operating budgets, prepare a short and long term forecast, and champion capital expenditure planning

· Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

· Strong organization skills

· Analytical and problem-solving skills

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required

· CPA or similar accounting qualification is an asset

· Prior experience in a luxury hotel brand; specifically in Finance.


Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel
