Job Posting for Design Software Engineer Internship (Unpaid) at Epapa

Design Software Engineer Internship (Unpaid)

Location: Berlin, Germany (Remote possible)

Start Date: By May 30th or earlier

Duration: 3 months (flexible)

We’re Not Looking for Interns.

We’re looking for founder-types in disguise—the ones who’ve outgrown their coursework, crushed their side projects, and are now asking bigger questions:

  • What if I built something that mattered?
  • What if I shaped a product from the inside out?
  • What if this is where it all begins?

At Epapa, we’re not just building another edtech app—we’re building a future where humanoid educators teach and inspire students at home and in school. We’re rethinking how math and science are learned—starting with a speech-based AI app and evolving into intelligent, emotionally aware robots.

If that sounds like science fiction to you, good.

Because we’re here to turn fiction into product.

What You’ll Do

You won’t be fetching coffee. You’ll be building the future of education alongside the founder and core team. That means:

Design Product Features

  • Rethink our app’s home screen and learning flows to make navigation more intuitive and delightful
  • Design interactive prototypes for features like math animations, tutoring sessions, and goal-setting dashboards
  • Create an AI tutor interface with expressive visuals and animations that build trust and engagement

Develop & Ship Real Features

  • Launch our iOS app and optimize for different devices
  • Integrate Android in-app purchases using Google Play Billing
  • Build CI/CD workflows that let us move fast and break nothing
  • Work with our backend dev to build secure APIs for student progress tracking

Train & Fine-Tune AI

  • Shape how our AI tutor talks—make it smarter, friendlier, and more age-appropriate
  • Test prompts that turn math topics like Pythagoras and Ohm’s Law into dynamic tutoring conversations
  • Help build a tagging system to improve our adaptive learning model

Design with Real Students

  • Run remote user tests to see how real kids use the app
  • Translate feedback into better UX—fast
  • Gamify learning with features like animated trophies and streak counters

Who You Are

  • You’ve built in React Native, or you’re learning at lightspeed
  • You know your way around Figma, and love turning prototypes into polished experiences
  • You care about both clean code and thoughtful design
  • You’re studying CS, HCI, design—or carving your own hybrid path
  • Bonus: You’ve played with OpenAI APIs or conversational agents

Why This Isn’t Just an Internship

  • You’ll ship features used by real students—globally
  • You’ll learn how to build an AI-powered app from the ground up
  • You’ll work in a small, driven team where your ideas shape the product
  • You’ll get the kind of experience founders wish they had before they started

This role is unpaid for now—but we offer something more valuable: a seat at the table, a shot at real ownership, and a strong path to future paid roles.

Ready to Start?

Send your CV and portfolio (Figma, GitHub, case studies—whatever tells your story) to info@epapa.eu or apply through LinkedIn.

If we don’t reply within two days, it’s a no—but we thank you for your ambition either way.
