At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, a position as professor within the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and business collaboration within biotechnology and health for 7,4 hours per week (20% of full time). The position is open from 1 June 2025, or soon thereafter. The workplace is in Aalborg. The specific activities under this position must focus on driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of healthcare. The research should tackle pressing global healthcare challenges through innovative solutions, with a particular emphasis on integrating AAU's strengths in health sciences, digital technologies, and interdisciplinary problem-based learning. Through interdisciplinary collaborations across health sciences, engineering, computer science, and biotechnology, the position should ensure a holistic approach to solving complex healthcare problems. A strong partnership with healthcare providers and industry is essential to ensure that the research has tangible practical applications and societal impact. By integrating business collaboration into the research strategy, this position aims to bridge the gap between academic innovation and real-world implementation. The candidate must demonstrate a high degree of experience and original scientific production at an international level within relevant areas such as biotechnology, healthcare, digital health, innovation, entrepreneurship and business collaboration. Furthermore, the candidate must have a proven track record of attracting external research funding towards realizing research and innovation goals. A Professor position at Aalborg University encompasses both research and research-based teaching. Documentation of comprehensive teaching experience and curriculum development in relevant topics at university level is a prerequisite. Experience with the Problem Based Learning, that is integral to the teaching approach at Aalborg University, is considered favourably.   About the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience At the Department of Chemistry and Bioscience (BIO), our high-level research spans from basic to applied within both natural sciences and engineering. With approx. 150 employees, 75 PhD students, and 775 bachelor and master’s students at our campuses in Aalborg (main campus) and Esbjerg, we are a vital research and educational institution when it comes to creating new basic knowledge as well as contributing to solving the world’s challenges within biology, chemistry, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, and chemical engineering. Qualification requirements: The suitable applicant must demonstrate a documented high level of original scientific production at an international level, including proven development of the research area in question. An assessment of the candidate’s involvement in research management and/or other management functions will also be considered. In addition, the applicant is expected to have suitable teaching qualifications relevant for the educations at Department of Chemistry and Bioscience in particular the BSc and MSc programs in biotechnology. Previous experience with sustainable development and management of education, teaching, innovation and industrial collaboration will be considered in the overall assessment.  The application must contain the following: A motivated application wherein the reasons for applying, qualifications in relation to the position, intentions, and visions for the position are stated. A list of results and experiences in innovation, entrepreneurship and business collaboration. Assessment The assessment of applicants for the position will be carried out by an assessment committee. Shortlisting will be applied. This means that the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select candidates for assessment. Candidates selected for assessment will then be informed about the composition of the assessment committee. All candidates will be notified whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not. Applicants who are selected for assessment will have the opportunity to comment on their assessment. When the hiring process is completed, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
