Job Description

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our facility in Rochelle, Illinois. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this person will supervise the second shift from 3pm-11pm. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

• Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies, ensure the safe and continuous operation of all machinery, and report unsafe condition
• Use problem solving techniques to motivate and lead maintenance team.
• Identify and improve manufacturing/maintenance processes and related support equipment
• Supervise and schedule the electrical and multi-craft maintenance technicians who maintain, modify, and install production process equipment.
• Develop an environment of continuous training that fosters the development of teamwork and skill.
• Oversee the completion of work assignments in a safe and timely manner.
• Make field decisions regarding job procedures, work standards, machinery, and equipment
• Follow-up on work assignments for ensuring proper completion
• Interface with outside vendors and identify specialty replacement parts and upgrades
• Demonstrate and understanding of the company’s Environmental Management System, its philosophy, and the need to be responsive to customer’s environmental expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Trade Certification preferred
• 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience
• Must be able to follow written/verbal instructions; basic computer skills; able to read measuring devices/equipment
• Visual acuity to read and record numerical data
• Attention to detail, dependability, professionalism, and a great work ethic
• Knowledge of industrial equipment and components is required.
• Proven proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office); SAP experience is a plus
• Must have good mechanical aptitude and basic math skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Previous experience with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers etc.) preferred

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to listen and speak effectively to understand and communicate the needs of customers and coworkers. Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write and electronically submit POs and email coworkers.
• Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internal business application computer system. Familiarity with bar-coding management is required. SAP experience preferred but not required 
• Knowledge and ability to perform all aspects of the maintenance functions.
• Previous experience with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers etc.) preferred
• Must be prepared to work overtime and odd hours to accomplish the necessary tasks whenever an emergency that threatens production or safety arises.
• Regular, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
