Job Description

Wheatland Tube/Western Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a 2023 Quality Engineer Intern for our facility located in Rochelle, IL. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Engineer Intern will be responsible for supporting the continuous improvement activities at the facility as well as other Quality Department-related tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform Process audits to determine compliance of process to internal and external requirements
• Verify the accuracy of quality and operations plans
• Consistency of setup at each machine from operator to operator
• Consistency of reporting from each machine
• Perform time studies to look for areas of improvement relative to identifying bottlenecks and improving cycle times
• Audit/assess material stock
• Assist in tracking of product and coordination of disposition
• Performs internal audits of our Quality Management System
• Research new technologies to aid in the inspection of processes/products
• Help manage the gage calibration system for the facility
• Assist with other projects and analyses as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Current College student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• A strong team player is necessary with the ability to coordinate the efforts of many individuals internal and external to the organization
• Sound decision-making ability, computational, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel and Access (preferred)
• Ability to work outside
