Position Description The Manager of Corporate Communications plays an integral role in telling Zayo’s story, educating external audiences about Zayo’s products, key differentiators and leadership position. Primary duties span media relations, messaging, thought leadership, media intelligence and executive communications (including executive social media). The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of experience in corporate communications, thought leadership and/ or executive communications. A background in technology or telecommunications is preferred, but not required. Responsibilities Build and execute communications plans that will enhance and protect Zayo’s reputation, helping drive the business forward. Pursue tactics that will increase brand preference and affinity for Zayo among key stakeholders, ultimately fueling sales, revenue growth and retention. Identify storytelling opportunities by collaborating across the organization (including the Marketing, Product, Sales, and People/ Culture teams), as well as with senior leadership. Determine the best communications vehicle(s) for each story and build the narrative in a way that best connects with key audiences. Build and execute a comprehensive thought leadership program for select senior executives. Develop a strategy for each leader, and manage tactics including social media, speaking engagements, bylines, blog posts and media interviews. Provide briefing materials, messaging support and talking points for senior leaders and staff interviews and events, as necessary. Draft a variety of externally-facing materials including news releases, media pitches, fact sheets, FAQs, blogs and social media posts. Build and continually refine a messaging framework, and help audiences understand complex technical concepts (working in concert with subject matter experts). Monitor the conversation about Zayo and the industry across traditional and social media, and share content with internal audiences as appropriate. Provide key metrics on the success of tactics, as defined in advance with team leadership. Coordinate with an external PR agency and provide clear direction to ensure joint success. Qualifications/Skills 5-7 years of experience in external communications, including media relations and thought leadership. Corporate or PR agency experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, English, or related business field. Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects and thrive in a fast-paced, transformation-oriented environment. Experience working with senior-level executives on communications and thought leadership programs. Strong written and verbal communications, including familiarity with AP style. Ability to develop relationships across all levels of the organization and multiple geographies.
