ZAGG, Inc. is Hiring a Product Development Manager Near Midvale, UT

DESCRIPTION

At ZAGG, we are committed to creating high quality, cutting edge, and industry leading solutions for customers' mobile accessory needs. The role of the Product Development Manager (PDM) is to guide the development projects through all phases of execution. This role is responsible for products in development to completion and reporting status throughout the way for products in development. The Product Development Manager will also be the primary interface with our suppliers, the internal project core team and the management team during development and mass production ramp.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 65 % Project Development
  • Drive Product Development of approved new products from Request to Quote through to Manufacturing ramp until hand over to operations team for sustaining orders with assistance of Director of PD.
  • Prepare Request for Quote documentation with core teams for quoting with potential suppliers
  • Prepare Project plans with appropriate personnel / tools and execute against project plans
  • Prepare Budgetary and Cost estimates for new products using historical data and additional data from internal team and/or suppliers
  • Work with internal team to build and test prototypes
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel per project plans and follow-up as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Address issues during developmental phases and appropriately escalate problems to management team
  • Provide options and alternatives to suggest appropriate solutions
  • Conduct research into project-related issues and products
  • React to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  • 15% Engineering Change Management
  • Oversee and drive changes to products that are in sustaining mass production process using the established Engineering change process
  • Manage engineering change work using same processes as used for new product development as appropriate
  • Effectively communicate status of engineering change work to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • 10% Administrative Duties
  • Prepare documentation to push products through the company approval process
  • Prepare Presentations and supporting documents to present status and/or mitigation plans to stakeholders
  • Update New Product Development Tracking sheets weekly to ensure core teams and stakeholders are updated regularly
  • Maintaining purchasing orders and invoicing through the mophie PO process
  • 5% Financial/Inventory
  • Cost of good management – Manage confirmed costs to maintain product margins as approved.
  • End Of Life – Participate in Product End-Of-Life (EOL) Cycle process
  • Material Liabilities – Participate in action plans for disposition of material liabilities left from canceled projects and/or end of life cycle process.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned

SKILLS:

  • Must be technically competent with MS Office software and Microsoft Project software
  • Successful working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and flexible during times of change
  • Ability to bring project to successful completion through political sensitivity
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including communication with international suppliers and multi-languages
  • Ability to read and react to different audiences, and adjust communication style effectively
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5 years of direct work experience in a project management for consumer products required, consumer electronics a plus or 3 years of Product Development experience in a related industry
  • Experience developing products for iPhone and other iOS devices a plus
  • Overtime may be required in meet project deadlines
  • Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings
  • Direct experience with Asia manufacturing
  • Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with development partners, contract manufacturers and ODMs, clients, or off-site personnel/management
  • Up to 15% travel may be required
