Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant, responsible for managing the accounting and reporting (internal and external) of government, foundation and corporate grants; month-end close inclusive of journal entries, accruals, GL account analysis and reconciliations. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Monitor fiscal compliance of agency grants
• Ensure proper accounting to accurately charge allowable expenses by grant, including allocation of salaries per pay period – requires complete understanding of project scope and funder reporting requirements.
• Ensure accurate and timely billing of draws to funders; monitor payments
• Internal reporting and reconciliation with project managers
• Complete processes that allow timely closing of agency books, including journal entries, accruals
• Develop reports within accounting software
• Maintain fixed asset schedules
• Cross train with finance staff to ensure wide knowledge within department

Requirements

• Minimum of three years accounting experience, preferably with a focus on grants management, contract compliance and fund accounting within a non-profit agency.
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting software (Abila – MIP preferred) and custom report writing
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business management preferred
• Excellent accounting and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment.
