Job Summary

NATURE OF WORK
Under close supervision, performs administrative, office, clerical and cash handling to include receiving, counting, and securing cash according to office policy; this position has department specific responsibility.
Example of Work
(Illustrative Only) Provides customers services and responds to inquiries from the public that come into Development Services; assists with accepting and entering applications into the developing records; collects, reviews, verifies, and processes fees and assists the Accountants with verifying the cash receipts and submitting it to finance, when needed; conducts inventory of supplies, purchases of products, materials and other items following county procedures; responsible for the use of the P-Card; answers incoming calls, determines and undertakes routing to proper party records and delivers messages; assists the public with the electronic submittals and assists with entering paper submittals; receives, sorts, indexes, files, and retrieves forms, correspondence, and documents; enters data into computer system; formats, composes and types documents and reports from written draft and transcription; may take abbreviated notes of meetings; compiles reports and summaries of work; checks and completes records, forms, and documents; develops and maintains office records and files; receives, and responds to correspondence and operates a variety of office machines; prepares and processes confidential and sensitive documents; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent; plus coursework in general office procedures AND three (3) years of office work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements: Some positions require the successful completion of a background check; must possess and maintain an Arizona valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of County policies and procedures; business English, spelling, and arithmetic. Knowledge of office computer hardware and software applications; office practices and procedures.
Skill in: Effectively dealing with public inquiries; making arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy; maintaining records and preparing reports; the operation of various office machines/equipment; following written and verbal instructions.
Ability to: Operate general office equipment; follow written and verbal instructions; effectively respond to phone calls, emails and complaints in a timely manner; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; sit, stand, bend and lift up to 25 pounds; maintain a high standard of confidentiality; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity; generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing; working at a computer monitor for extended periods required; the job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under extreme likelihood of verbal abuse from hostile and frustrated customers.

The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
