HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 86.67 hours per pay period. Position is office based

The VP of Community Impact is responsible for developing community-based solutions using stakeholder engagement strategies to address priority social issues in alignment with the Y’s mission and strategic plan. As a member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Community Impact will oversee the Y’s diversity, equity, inclusion and global initiatives, advocacy and Community Relations activities, and spiritual well-being services. POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the YMCA (Y), a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social impact. The Vice President of Community Impact is a pioneering, courageous, and strategic, leader who is committed to the mission, purpose, values, and ethics of the YMCA. The VP of Community Impact is responsible for developing community-based solutions using stakeholder engagement strategies to address priority social issues in alignment with the Ys mission and strategic plan. As a member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Community Impact will oversee the Ys diversity, equity, inclusion and global initiatives, advocacy and Community Relations activities, and spiritual well-being services.

The VP of Community Impact fosters a culture of inclusion, courageous conversations, spiritual exploration, innovation, and collaboration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Acts as a strategic business partner to executive leadership team.
  2. Lead all efforts pertaining to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Global Strategies.
    • Model inclusive leadership behaviors and embraces all dimensions of diversity building strong teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to our mission.
    • Integrate diversity, equity and inclusion across the Associations operations.
    • Organize the Associations Employee Resource Groups.
    • Implementing Boys and Young Men of Color Initiative (BYMOC)
    • Lead the immigrant integration and New American Welcome Center strategy
  3. Lead advocacy efforts
    • Build public policy partnerships that support children, families, and communities to support the Ys strategic vision and growth initiatives.
    • In collaboration with state lobbyists and Y-USA State Advocacy Director, respond to legislative priorities and educate local, state, and national policymakers thru outreach efforts.
    • Develop and strengthen a network of staff, volunteers and members interested in public policy and utilize their advocacy efforts at state and national levels.
  4. Enhance Community Relations
    • Collaborate with faith communities, nonprofit, education, public and private sectors to keep them informed on long-term strategies of the YMCA and seek out collaborations and partnership opportunities.
    • Build strategic alliances and coalitions with key constituency groups whose work and missions are aligned with the YMCA priorities.
  5. Lead Missions and Service
    • Promote spiritual well-being as a core tenant of the Ys mission
    • Form strong ties with the faith community and expanding partnerships to access shared goals.
    • Build volunteer program to engage the community in the work of the Y.
    • Work with cross functional teams to identify service opportunities across the Association and community for staff and volunteers.
  6. Develop performance indicators and measurement systems to track impact outcomes.

Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible and successful executive leadership experience in DEI, community impact and faith services.
  • Demonstrated success in building community collaborations.
  • Knowledge and application of continuous quality improvement principles in organizations.
  • Commitment to shared accountability, teamwork, and creative leadership.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general business matters required, including strategic planning, budget development, OKR management, financial reporting, outcome measurement and grant management.
  • Knowledge of software systems and project management.
  • Personal computer skills required.
