YMCA of Southwest Florida is Hiring a Program Director Near Englewood, FL

Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Director will develop, organize, implement, and oversee our Camp and Aquatics departments, delivering high quality programming with a focus on providing a safe and healthy place for youth and families to learn and grow. Participants will develop healthy, trusting relationships and build self-reliance through the Y values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives of the following programs: Camps and Aquatics
  • Recruits, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and assist with processing program scholarship applications.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Organizes and oversees program activities and events.
  • Recruits and coordinates and ensures screening for volunteers from the local community.
  • Coordinates and monitors teen summer camps.
  • Organizes, and conducts Leaders Club/Leadership High School activities and events.
  • Secures facilities for program activities and events.
  • Facilitates and coordinates participation in community events, expos, on and offsite open houses, etc. in order to increase awareness and foster relationships in YMCA programs.
  • Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred
  • YUSA Team Leader Certification preferred
  • Minimum of one to two years related experience including team management
  • Minimum of two years of lifeguard or equivalent experience
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required
  • Current and valid YMCA, Red Cross, or other nationally recognized lifeguarding certification (must obtain within 90 days)
  • Annual completion of YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training
  • Annual completion of YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
