Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions and the admissions team are the first point of contact for prospective students, and central to the successful enrollment growth of highly qualified students who have many different universities to choose from. We believe that informed, engaged, and efficient interactions with prospective students/applicants is essential and that we must provide inquirers with a high standard of service. When working with a prospective student, we seek to understand their goals, the ability of our programs to help them reach those goals, and their readiness to thrive at the Katz School of Science and Health. Our entire focus is on student success.
The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions serves the Katz School's STEM programs as the front-line for prospective students through application submission. Responsible for all inbound and outbound communication activity for prospective students including overseeing multiple admissions communications channels, strategies and collateral; organizing and leading recruitment in-person events and hosting admissions webinars; attending off-campus recruitment events with others on the recruitment team; managing and developing part-time admissions counselors; and strategizing with the marketing and recruitment teams to meet or exceed enrollment goals.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prospective Student/Applicant Counseling: Oversee and expand as needed a multi-channel communication portfolio e.g., phone, text, chat, WeChat and others as needed. Set and deliver exceptional customer service standards, i.e., quick answer, rapid callbacks, engaged, warm, and professional interactions with a focus on the prospective student's needs. Use CRM systems to ensure follow up and closure on a weekly basis. Create and update FAQs, drip responses, and other critical admissions materials. Monitor and report on call center analytics and analyze admissions trends for marketed programs
- Admissions and Recruitment Events: Select and manage the events, content, participants, recording, and all operational aspects of admissions events. Work with marketing and recruitment teams as well as the School to ensure that webinars are promoted. Establish partnerships with organizations & outreach channels to expand participation and reach
- Funnel Conversion: In collaboration with the marketing and recruitment teams, implement a multi-channel recruitment nurturing strategy based on specific market segment characteristics and position in the enrollment funnel. Purchase, build and manage prospect lists in collaboration with marketing, events, partnerships, and schools. Qualify and prioritize prospects and various stage applicants for follow up. Nurture prospective students and applicants by connecting them with next human touch or event to ensure an informed decision cycle and a continuity of experience. Monitor campaigns to specific audiences with systematic tracking of applicant interactions. Report on lead quantity, quality, conversions, and meta-data compared with point-in-time expectations
- Liaison with YU Offices: Liaise with critical university offices, including but not limited to Student Finance, International Students Office, Registrar, Pathways Program, Office of Marketing and Communications, and Schools
- Product Knowledge:
- Develop a fluency and comfort speaking about Yeshiva University, Katz School, individual program's curriculum, and specific expertise of faculty. Become familiar with trends of the job markets for STEM programs, including Katz's student outcomes such as job placements and salaries, internship placements, and capstone projects
- Paying for School: Working with the Office of Student Finance, develop expertise to help graduate students navigate paying for school, financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and balancing work with school
- International Students: Working with the International Students Office, develop a working knowledge of issues faced by international students seeking to enroll in a US based program including visas, transition to graduate school and the US, and applying for STEM OPT
Experience & Educational Background:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's degree plus two years' experience in admissions counseling
- Experience with student data management and/or application and CRM systems
- Entrepreneurial mindset and process orientation. Confidence to speak up and advocate for improving the student experience, and diplomacy to build consensus around your ideas
- Exemplary external and internal customer service skills
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including with people from a variety of cultures and linguistic backgrounds
- Ability to travel locally, nationally, and internationally
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Knowledge of STEM programs, current trends, job outcomes, and verbiage for the discipline
- Master's degree in related field, highly preferred
- Experience with student CRM's, and in particular, Ellucian Recruit
- Professional experience in the higher education and/or admissions and recruitment context is strongly preferred but not required
