YANMAR AMERICA is Hiring a Service Technician Near Branford, CT

Position Summary:
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, service work, and installation start up support as assigned. The company goal is superior customer service, and the preventive maintenance serves as an opportunity to identify and correct problems before they negatively impact the customer. The technician has responsibility for establishing the Preventive Maintenance schedule to ensure that PMs are completed on time and to company quality standards. The Technician is also responsible for identifying pending equipment problems, developing solutions, and scheduling and completing service work as coordinated with the dispatcher.
The HVAC Service Technician will have substantial training and working knowledge of all aspects of HVAC maintenance including mechanical, electrical, piping, and controls. This individual is the face of the company and must represent the company in a professional manner with the customer. The technician must also adhere to Controlled Air’s standards for quality workmanship and superior customer service.
Job Functions:
  • Traveling to customer sites to troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC equipment and controls.
  • Communicate with customers when arriving and before leaving the customer site.
  • Utilizing HVAC manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research HVAC issues.
  • Develop job estimates for quoted work and complete quoted work within estimated budget.
  • Ensuring proper documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer with regards to status of HVAC issues, repairs, and quoted work.
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on customer HVAC equipment.
  • Maximize utilization and productivity through optimal job planning and routing.
  • Providing system commissioning and start up testing for Controlled Air’s installation team.
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of HVAC industry and product lines represented by the company.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in HVAC equipment educational opportunities.
  • Complete and submit proper documentation related to the status of the machine issues, repairs, and new system commissioning to the company office as well as customers.
  • Develop and maintain partner relationships with HVAC partners and other third-party vendors.
  • Conduct after-sales technical support and HVAC maintenance training to customers.
  • Identify and communicate sales or service opportunities and customer concerns or suggestions to Management.
  • Identify and resolve customer concerns; recommending a course of action to alleviate these concerns in the future.
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent customer relationships and customer satisfaction.
  • Expand market awareness of our products and our industry experience by communicating features and benefits of our products and services effectively.
  • Maintain awareness of pertinent customer information and communicate any client information that may affect company decisions to appropriate departments as needed. Serve as “eyes and ears” for the company with the customer.
  • Submit accurate and complete timecards in a timely manner.
  • Provide training and development to apprentices as directed by management.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Technical service background preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC temperature control systems.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Must be able to handle troubleshooting technical problems that happen and learn any skills that are needed.
  • Well-rounded with an ability to solve problems creatively.

Job Qualifications
  • One to three years’ experience working with HVAC installation or repair.
  • Associate degree in a related field; High School Diploma/GED from a technical school
  • Must hold a D2 or S2 license, EPA certification for the proper handling of refrigerants, and be experienced with commercial HVAC systems.
