At AXA XL, a Statistical Analyst/Actuarial Analyst will have the opportunity to interface with varied teams including underwriting, operations, and regulatory in the development of rates. Using your focused technical knowledge, in direct coordination with our experienced actuaries and underwriters, you will develop a strong understanding of the diverse markets served by AXA XL enabling our underwriters to provide current and prospective clients a broad range of customized coverage.

As a Statistical Analyst/Actuarial Analyst at AXA XL you will provide statistical support to all circulars / bulletins issued and determine their impact on rates. Using your technological and analytical skills you will complete Workers Compensation annual data calls and will provide data for filings as well as work on responses to objections from State Insurance Departments.

You will have the opportunity to interact with other business units with direct involvement in rate change reporting and model maintenance. This actuarial role will enable you to gain insight and exposure to multiple lines of business and insurance terminology.

Main responsibilities:

  • Providing statistical support to all circulars and bulletins issued to determine the impact on AXA XL’s rates.
  • Assisting in completing all necessary data calls and nationwide state rate filings for multiple lines of business including: Workers Compensation, General and Auto Liability, Inland Marine, Equine and others.
  • Providing any statistical data and exhibits needed to submit filings to the respective Department of Insurance and assisting in responses to filing objections from the Insurance Departments.
  • Keeping expense data current to be used in Loss Cost Multipliers “LCM” revisions.

Skills:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or Actuarial Sciences or related area which may include Statistics or Computer Science or Information Technology. Recent graduates will be considered for this role. A preference for candidates who have completed one to two examinations towards achieving the ACAS designation
  • A preference for candidates who possess at least 18 months of hands-on actuarial experience seeking exposure to multiple lines of business. Workers Compensation background is a plus.
  • A strategic thinker who can shape innovative ideas into creative ways to analyze data to derive new methods of supporting pricing.
  • Strong attention to detail skills needed to recognize data inconsistencies.
  • A strong communicator who can adeptly work with varied teams using active listening skills while interjecting positive and valuable ideas into the discussion.
  • An individual who can both interact with peers collaboratively within a small cohesive team while also focusing on independently completing tasks in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets using Excel, Access and R is required.
