What We Are Looking For

Xevant is a software as a service provider searching for an experienced Senior Data Engineer. This role works as a part of the Xevant Data Warehouse Team on all technical aspects of the implementation data warehouse process including; data migration, creating technical requirement specifications from functional requirements (user stories and epics), development of TSQL code, and SSIS ETL packages.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support new and existing ETL processes using SSIS and TSQL on a Microsoft SQL Server 2016 platform.
• Understand and create source to target data mappings and documentation.
• Assist the business with articulating functional data requirements, and have the ability to create technical data requirements from them.
• Engage in the logical and physical design of SQL Server Database systems and ETL process data flow.
• Refactor of existing procedural code for better architecture/performance
• Create databases, tables, procedures, functions, views etc. using TSQL
• Create and architect new data solutions built off the existing data warehouse platform.
• Be able to troubleshoot the root cause of ETL errors and recommend solutions.
• Create ETL documentation.
• Propose/Design new data models following industry standard data warehouse architecture best practices.
• Assists in high level DBA tasks including query performance tuning, creating/dropping users, and server performance troubleshooting.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Expert knowledge of SQL programming with a minimum of 7 years with Microsoft's SQL server products
• Create SSIS Packages, SQL Tables and Views
• Modern Coding Practices - Coding Standards, Merge Statements etc.
• Import/Export data from fixed width, pipe delimited, and csv file formats via SSIS Packages and stored procedure usage.
• Advanced Level – Data Warehouse and Dimensional modeling techniques.
• Advanced Level - Creating Stored Procedures
• Creating Files to File Specification (Rebate Submissions)
• Advanced Level - Troubleshooting/Bug Fixing ETL Packages/Processes
• Medium Level - Concepts of Indexing, Performance Tuning
• Refactoring of Existing Code for Better Architecture/Performance
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership & responsibility for development and maintenance projects
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
• Technical documentation skills.
• Jira/Confluence/BitBucket/Redgate a plus.
