WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are looking for a Senior Accountant. This role will assist the Corporate Controller with all accounting/finance functions and responsibilities for the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the chart of accounts and the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and corporate allocations to business units.
• Assist Controller and external auditors with year-end audit.
• Prepare Financial Statements and footnotes for the Annual Report.
• Complete month-end bank, credit card and ledger reconciliations.
• Maintain WWCI fixed asset system.
• Assist CFO in ad hoc GL requests.
• Account for investments and work with custodian and investment manager to compile and record data.
• Continually evaluate system processes and lead projects that streamline and improve the monthly close process, including software implementation and integration projects.
• Ensure compliance with key controls in the recordings of the financial reporting cycle, accurate US GAAP reporting, audit requirements and financial reporting requirements.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills in a professional work environment
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize based on company needs
• Ability to act timely and accurately with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent technological aptitude and proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word
• Prior experience using an ERP system. Oracle NetSuite experience preferred

EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years of general accounting experience including fixed asset management and investments accounting.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
