WPX is looking for an Accounting Supervisor responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the day-to-day activities of the accounting department. Areas of involvement include accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger reconciliations, state & local taxes and licenses, financial/management reporting, and staff supervision, evaluation, and training. Requires a high level of competency with all aspects of accounting (GL, AP, AR, FA), and exceptional honesty and integrity. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, extremely computer savvy, willing to do everyday tasks, and comfortable supervising others. This position will be on-site at our Corporate office, reporting to our CFO. Remote work or work-from-home is not available for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, organize and direct the day-to-day workflow in the accounting department, monitoring utilization of resources, eliminating duplication of effort, and streamlining systems while maintaining segregation of responsibilities
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of general ledger and subsidiary ledgers
  • Review and process accounts payable invoices & payments in accordance with company policies, maintain subsidiary ledgers
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset and related depreciation records on book and tax basis.
  • Prepare or review general ledger entries, journal entries & account reconciliations.
  • Review and reconcile accounts receivable subsidiary ledgers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP. Coordinate monthly close process. Prepare and analyze financial statements, operating trends, budget variances and prepare management reporting. Assist with annual closing and CPA review process.
  • Develop ad-hoc and recurring analytical reporting focused on operational cost controls
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all state and local taxes and other regulatory reporting
  • Train, motivate, coach, and encourage the continual development of employees in assigned area
  • Other duties as assigned, including occasional overnight travel

QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE,AND ABILITIES REQUIRED)

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Associates degree with qualifying experience
  • At least three (3) years of full-charge bookkeeping or accounting experience with a strong general ledger and financial statement focus, and one (1) year in a supervisory role
  • Must maintain a high degree of personal and professional integrity and honesty
  • Current knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills
  • Able to think critically, analyze, define issues, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, develop plans & processes and execute them effectively in both a proactive and reactive manner
  • Able to perceive issues, propose and communicate options or changes before a problem develops
  • Able to organize, analyze, assemble and prepare documents or reports containing data from several sources
  • Able to respond to complex inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Able to prioritize multiple simultaneous demands and work well under pressure
  • Able to effectively engage, interface and communicate with all staff, service providers, management, & clients in a clear and professional manner
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Prior experience in the logistics industry preferred
  • Able to read, write and speak English clearly and professionally
  • Must be able to pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment
  • Must be a US citizen or Legal Permanent Resident with authorization to work in the United States
