Description

The Director of Program Management is accountable for the flawless launch of Workhorse commercial truck programs. This includes financial budgets and timely execution of program tasks. The Director PMO will lead a cross functional matrixed team working together across the entire Commercial Truck business unit. The incumbent will provide leadership and governance to achieve the targeted results with on-time, on-cost while maintaining the highest quality standards. Role requires excellent people and leadership skills, as the success of the Director PMO is directly controlled by the ability of the cross-functional Team to execute their assigned tasks in the correct order and at the correct time. The Director of PMO will be responsible for reviewing and continuously improving the Workhorse Program Management System and institutionalizing this system.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive the Program Management System at Workhorse and drive the execution of the Program Tasks.
  • Manage new launches beginning with the initial request for quotation, overseeing all non-commercial aspects of new program launches.
  • Directly manage, coach, develop the PMO team.
  • Work with other functional areas to ensure flawless execution, on time and within the budgeted cost.
  • Ensure that the status of launches and changes are clearly communicated through weekly updates from PLT meeting activities, Monthly Program Reviews, and Phase Gate Reviews.
  • Consistently seeks opportunities to improve all processes, and “locks down” the changes by updating the process and re-training of the involved employees.
  • Continue to seek technology updates and certification for the PMO team.
  • Embrace and implement Lean Manufacturing concepts in the Program Management process ( VSM, Kaizen events, and Gemba walks within the business process).

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of previous experience as a Program Manager preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar.
  • PMP or PMI certification. 
  • Previous experience leading high value and complex programs. 
  • Ability to lead groups without having direct authority over these groups.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to communicate across all levels of the Workhorse organization.
  • Ability to probe into issues, foresee problems, and implement countermeasures to avoid negative impact to launch schedule.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Excel, Word and the Internet.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to Facilitate effective meetings and Drive task completion.
