Work World and Whistle Workwear is Hiring a Store Manager Near San Jose, CA

Work World is the largest specialty retailer of workwear and work boots in the Western U.S. From humble beginnings in 1990, we now operate 35 stores under the Work World and Whistle Workwear brand names in California, Nevada, and Washington. We sell boots, apparel, scrubs and safety gear from top vendors in the industry including Carhartt, Wolverine, Timberland Pro, and more.

What it’s like working here

What you will need

  • At least 2 years minimum retail management experience as a Store Manager
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to constructively coach others to succeed
  • Able to work a full-time schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to climb a ladder
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Bi-Lingual a plus

Your duties will include

  • Inspire, motivate, lead, and develop a store team
  • Model and foster a consumer centric mindset within the store
  • Model selling behaviors through genuine interactions with consumers
  • Provide direct coaching, feedback, training and supervision of the store staff
  • Greet customers and assist customers in finding items
  • Answer phone courteously
  • Keep store neat and clean at all times
  • Ring sales on cash register
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Process merchandise shipments
  • Open and close the store
  • Prepare opening and closing paperwork
  • Prepare bank deposits and drop at bank
  • Buy change for store as needed
  • Process damages, to include preparation of debit memos
  • Supervise and assist training all personnel
  • Set expectations for customer engagement, store policies and procedures to appropriately manage expenses while maximizing sales and profitability
  • Work nights and weekends
  • The Assistant Manager is scheduled opposite shifts of the Store Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your Area Manager and/or Director of Operations
