The Cost Accountant will be responsible for the reduction of financial waste and increased profits. Determining actual costs of manufacturing or service activities, scrutinizing associated company expenses, analyzing profitability and assisting with preparation of the company budget.

COST ACCOUNTANT WORK SCHEDULE
You'll be working onsite in White House, TN or Lexington, NC; Mon-Fri 8AM to 5PM.

COST ACCOUNTANT ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop cost standards for materials and labor, maintain inventory, accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports; comparing standard costs to actual production costs and record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Analyze and recommend costs savings, inventory valuations, manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization.
  • Prepare and complete internal cost audits, cost of goods sold and production reports along with making estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Prepare all inventory-related journal entries and assist in month end close of the General Ledger.
  • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Oversee annual physical inventory and monitor cycle count program.
  • Support special projects and ad hoc cost accounting reporting as assigned.
  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

COST ACCOUNTANT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (CMA or MBA preferred)
  • 5 years of Manufacturing Cost Accounting work experience.
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) SAP systems. 
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
