Position Summary:

As a Surveyor/Geospatial Technician at Wood Rodgers, you will perform various tasks associated with land surveying, aerial mapping, and remote sensing. This includes planning, collecting, and processing imagery and LiDAR data collected from drones and manned aircraft and developing that data into further deliverables for civil site design.

NOTE: We are interested in hearing from candidates in the 2-5 year range to work in the surveying and mapping department, but also open to candidates in the 5-10 year range that would like to move into management duties as a next career step.

What you will be doing:

  • Mission planning control networks using GNSS static and RTK methods
  • Mission planning aerial survey projects
  • Flying drones and collecting imagery and LiDAR data
  • Performing photogrammetric adjustments and processing LiDAR trajectories
  • Processing point clouds and drafting topographic and planimetric maps
  • Maintaining schedule and communication with project managers and clients

Desired Additional Duties (based upon experience level)

  • Keeping aerial sensors in good working order, properly calibrated
  • Use AutoCAD software to assist in production of detailed topographic surveys, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, Record of Surveys, Parcel Maps, Final Maps, and other various survey related documents.
  • Knowledge with acquiring and processing terrestrial laser scanning and BIM modelling
  • Attending trades shows and expos, developing new business and client relationships

The Ante:

  • Bachelors degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or related field
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD, GIS, photogrammetry and LiDAR software
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
  • LSIT or ASPRS certificates are preferred but not required, candidate will be encouraged to obtain these
  • Survey field experience is preferred but not required
  • Remote Pilot 107 license preferred

Additional skills/ abilities to be successful:

  • Eagerness to learn your role and the roles of others around you for the successful completion of a project
  • Detail oriented and deliberate/meticulous with work approach
  • Project experience with land development and/or mining is preferred
  • Knowledge of boundary and legal principles is a plus
