The Human Resources Generalist works in close collaboration with the Human Resources team and company business leaders to implement HR related projects and initiatives. This role provides has a significant focus on recruiting and HR projects and will also provide insight and solutions that add value and advance the mission, vision and business objectives of the Company. This position is responsible for continuously evaluating and optimizing operational efficiencies and promoting excellence in internal customer service.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Executes HR activities related to the full lifecycle of recruitment, e.g. writing job descriptions, posting jobs, sourcing candidates, attending job fairs, conducting phone screening, coordinating, and conducting interviews, scheduling assessments, creating offer letters and new hire onboarding;
  • Serves as the primary HR contact and resource for assigned departments and applies HR expertise to support the needs of the organization;
  • Builds credibility within assigned departments by demonstrating an understanding of the business strategy and challenges, aligning the departments' short-term and long-term people goals with the business strategy, and facilitating and implementing initiatives to assist the business in achieving success;
  • Leads and/or supports various HR initiatives and projects, in accordance with the overall human capital strategic plan;
  • Develops, interprets, administers, and responds to inquiries about HR policies & procedures and legal compliance. Ensures clear communication and equitable application of policies;
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to customer-focused service and delivery in all work, with both internal and external interactions

Requirements

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of five years related Human Resources experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing human resources policies and procedures, as well as national and local laws. This includes self-directed maintenance of knowledge of current laws, events, industry trends and economic factors that may impact the company and its clients
  • Excellent recruiting life cycle and interviewing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills
  • Effective relationship building skills and consultative approach. Ability to become a trusted advisor to business leaders and demonstrated ability to gain the confidence, respect, and trust of employees
  • Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to shift easily between strategic initiatives and tactical day-to-day and administrative responsibilities
  • Results-focused, dependable, motivated, and highly organized
  • Knowledge of HR metrics and ability to benchmark, measure, analyze and articulate the value and ROI of HR initiatives, practices, and policies
  • Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative and contributing member of a team

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry, Civil Engineering and/or Consulting
  • HRCI or SHRM Certifications
