JOB SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager, Operations Manager, Shift Supervisor and Warehouse Lead Person, the Forklift Operator operates a double-wide pallet handling forklift truck and loads or unloads trucks to perform the shipping or receiving functions of finished goods or raw materials, maintains prescribed stock rotation requirements, and sorts empty pallets.

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Operate a doublewide pallet-handling forklift truck to load or unload semi-trucks. Monitor the quality of products or raw materials which are being shipped or received. Report any inconsistencies in the quality of materials shipped or received to management.
2. Transport materials within the warehouse and stack and unstack materials. Sort, remove, and replace damaged product. Accurately complete required paperwork and documentation. Sort empty pallets and shells.
3. Remove finished product from palletizers and transport to storage. Follow standardized safety procedures and perform work in a safe and cost effective manner.
4. Operate stretch wrap machines, as required.
5. May drive and position (spot) semi-trucks when necessary. May change forklift batteries and fill batteries with water, as needed.
6. Sweep, mop, and clean warehouse as directed. May operate a floor scrubber machine.
7. Hand stack and sort product, when needed. Perform bailing of recyclable materials.
8. Substitute for other employees, in other job classifications, when needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires education as normally acquired in high school or equivalent with coursework in Basic English and shop mathematics. Requires ability to complete Forklift Operator’s training course and successfully pass test to obtain a Forklift Operator’s License.

Previous experience with a forklift truck is helpful, but not necessary.

Requires ability to lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. Requires ability to communicate with management and other employees. Must possess legible handwriting skills. Must be able to work under a minimum of supervision.
