FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and technical support in the analyzing, planning, and implementing of school bus routing for the school year using the current transportation routing system. Additionally, this position develops special programs/event routing and the coordination of activity bus placement, allocation, and availability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Analyzes bus routes and associated needs (district fleet, staffing, fuel) to recommend safest and most cost-effective transportation plans.
• Processes a variety of materials (e.g. new students, route changes, etc.) for the purpose of updating and distributing information, authorizing action and/or complying with mandated requirements. Recommends route additions and changes for the purpose of keeping routes up-to-date and as efficient as possible.
• Monitor area construction redirecting affected route(s) in the most efficient means possible.
• Monitor the number of riders on each bus and take care of overcrowding as necessary.
• Sends routing notifications to staff and parents as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. May be requested to assist/support Transportation Specialist on as-needed basis.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Comprehensive knowledge of different transformation routing systems, policies, and practices,
• Knowledge of yellow bus and exceptional children's transportation operations.
• Excellent analytical skills for problem solving and understanding complex business requirements and how efficiency ratings effect the bottom line.
• Effective time management & customer service skills.
• Ability to lead and manage multiple complex technical projects simultaneously.
• Ability to complete complex task and minimize error with attention to detail.
• Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum: Associate Degree in Business Administration, Programming or equivalent and one (1) year transportation experience including routing of school buses using specialized TIMS or equivalent software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to obtain/maintain appropriate NC Drivers' license with safe/satisfactory driving record.
