JOB TITLE: Spa Manager
DEPARTMENT: Spa
DIRECT REPORT: Spa Assistant Director
FUNCTION:
Oversees all Spa Operations to ensure profitability, control costs, maximize profits, developing initiatives to ensure quality service standards and total guest satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the Assistant Spa Director in leading the day-to-day operation of the 25,000 square foot WinStar Spa and Fitness Center.
Maintain day-to-day operations of the Spa and Fitness Center in the absence of the Assistant Spa Director.
Hire, train, manage, and motivate all spa personnel with the daily supervision to include staffing, training, discipline, scheduling, and visually monitoring performance to ensure adherence to all service and productivity standards to provide guest satisfaction.
Facilitates the tranquility and esthetic beauty of the spa to promote an appealing and relaxing environment.
Oversee retail and operating supply inventories and orders within budget.
Maintaining the client database, scheduling appointments, managing contract laborers, timecards, payrolls, and employees.
Communicate with guests and employees, both verbally and in writing, to answer questions and provide clear direction in advising and instructing staff in details of work.
Resolve guest complaints, conducting thorough research to develop the most effective solutions and accomplish positive results by using good judgment and discretion.
Prepare reviews and development plans and take appropriate personnel-related action (i.e., hire, commend, discipline, evaluate, etc.) with Spa & Fitness staff as required.
Arrange and run pre-shift and departmental meetings to inform daily information.
Enforces established policies and procedures.
Practices the WinStar World Casino and Resort and Winston Hospitality culture and ensures all cultural expectations are implemented and regularly practiced throughout the hotel.
Conduct self in a professional manner always and work the hours required to lead the team by example and assure the operations are under control – leading by example is key.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to lift and carry upwards to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
- Manual dexterity and coordination to operate office equipment, including 10 key adding machines, personal computers, fax machines, and photo copiers.
- Read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations.
- Respond to visual and aural cues
- Work in cold & hot temperatures
- Possibly be exposed to secondhand smoke
Education and Qualifications
- Comparable work experience.
- Current licensed cosmetologist, nail technician, massaged therapist and/or esthetician; licensure is required.
- Previous demonstrated training expertise with emphasis on spa and salon services is strongly preferred.
- 3 years spa management experience; hotel spa setting preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays
