Summary:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Engineer has oversight of the Electrical department of all Winona Foods facilities. This position manages employees who find electrical engineering solutions with automation, robotics, and controls, primarily focused on production plant equipment.

Job Duties:

The list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Provides expertise for design of automated controls in manufacturing operations
  2. Primarily focuses on production line equipment control system integration
  3. Provides expertise/design/implementation and sets standards for robotic systems
  4. Abide all regulations required by NEC, NFPA 70 E, and State requirements
  5. Supports the development and expansion of automation control systems for the production plant
  6. Develops training programs in support of all technology implemented
  7. Supports common electrical component and PLC program utilization across facilities for control and robotic systems
  8. Provides Project Management services as needed for assigned Electrical Engineering projects
  9. Troubleshoots and diagnoses cause of electronic or mechanical malfunctions using knowledge, manuals, SOPs, specifications and other workplace aids
  10. Identifies root cause and corrective actions for equipment and system alarms and jams
  11. Communicates directly with equipment suppliers, contractors and vendors as necessary
  12. Manages and coordinates with team members to coordinate on-site installation of automation equipment.
  13. Exercises independent discretion, examining layout and anticipating difficulties and challenges
  14. Recommends and implements improvements based on expertise
  15. Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and instruction manuals for operation, processes and maintenance of automation equipment. Maintains technical manuals Electrical drawings and job files
  16. Ability to work a flexible schedule

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or BSEET) or industrial controls technologies with five (5) or more years’ experience relevant to electrical engineering
  • Additional educational courses will be required as needed to sustain departmental/individual technological levels
  • An ability to fully understand drawing/drafting practices, utilize engineering standards of design, construction and installation and to effectively use a CAD system
  • Must have advanced level understanding of automated control systems and integration, electronics, robotics, fiber optic sensors, pneumatic-hydraulic controls, HMI touch panels, networking, and PLC programming
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis
  • Experience with a Windows-based computer system (Microsoft Office programs and Maintenance Work Order software)
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as blueprints, schematics, work orders, etc.
  • Ability to write standard documentation and effectively present information to other employees
